Retirement Planning in Waupun, WI
SIA Insurance Services Wealth Management  |  Waupun, Wisconsin

Most people approaching or already in retirement have the same questions — and aren’t getting clear answers.

If you’ve spent years building your savings and you’re starting to wonder whether it’s actually going to be enough for retirement, you’re in the right place. The wealth management team at SIA Insurance Services helps families across Fond du Lac, Dodge, and Columbia Counties build retirement income plans they can count on.

Our team is committed to acting in your best interest — always putting your retirement goals first, not a product sale.

THE SIX QUESTIONS EVERY PRE-RETIREE SHOULD BE ASKING

These are the questions we hear most from people approaching retirement, followed by what you actually need to know, and how we help you work through them with a clear strategy, not guesswork.

1. Can I retire on schedule?

It depends on more than your account balance. We analyze your projected income needs, Social Security timing, any pension or other income sources, and whether your current savings rate closes the gap — or doesn’t. Most people are surprised by what that analysis actually reveals.

2. How much risk is in my portfolio?

If you don’t know your Risk Number, you don’t know the answer. We use Nitrogen — an objective risk scoring tool — to measure the actual risk in your current portfolio and compare it to the level of risk you’re genuinely comfortable with. A lot of pre-retirees are carrying more risk than they realize, especially after years of strong market growth.

3. Am I saving enough right now?

That depends on when you want to retire and what you’ll need to spend. We run the projections and give you a straight answer. If you’re behind, we show you where the catch-up opportunities are — including Roth conversions and IRS catch-up contribution limits that most people aren’t fully using.

4. Do I have enough to retire comfortably?

This is really the question behind every other question. We build a retirement income projection that accounts for inflation, healthcare costs, taxes in retirement, and how long your money needs to last. The goal is a number you can trust — not a hope.

5. How do I turn my savings into reliable income?

Moving from accumulation to distribution is a different problem than building a portfolio — and most people haven’t had to solve it before. We help clients build income strategies that layer Social Security, fixed annuities, and portfolio withdrawals into a plan that covers essential expenses without relying on guesswork.

6. Are there tax strategies I should be using now?

Almost always, yes. The years before Required Minimum Distributions start — age 73 or 75, depending on your birth year — are often the best window for Roth conversions, tax bracket management, and Qualified Charitable Distributions. Most people leave significant money on the table by not addressing this before they retire.

WHO WE WORK WITH

We work with people approaching retirement and people already in it — those who have worked hard to build meaningful savings and want to make sure those savings are actually positioned to do what they need to do. Some clients come to us a decade out. Others are already retired and want a second opinion on a plan they built somewhere else. Both are good places to start.

Our clients are professionals, business owners, and families across Waupun, Beaver Dam, Fond du Lac, Randolph, Fox Lake, Markesan, Columbus, Cambria, and the surrounding communities. Most have never had a clear picture of what retirement actually looks like for them. That’s where we start — by building that picture.

Sound familiar? If you’ve been wondering whether your retirement plan is actually on track — or whether you even have a plan — that’s exactly the conversation we’re built for.

OUR PROCESS

1. Retirement Review

A no-pressure conversation about where you are, where you want to go, and what questions you need answered. No cost. No obligation. Most people leave with at least one thing they didn’t know before they walked in.

2. Investment Analysis

We take a close look at what you currently own — how it’s allocated, what it’s costing you, and whether it’s positioned for where you are in life. A lot of people are surprised by what’s actually inside their portfolio.

3. Risk Profiling

We use Nitrogen to measure the actual risk in your portfolio and compare it to the risk level you’re genuinely comfortable with. Then we make sure those two things are aligned — before retirement, not after a market drop.

4. Income and Cash Flow Projection

We map out your income picture in retirement — Social Security, any pension, portfolio withdrawals, annuity income, and other sources — and stress-test it against your real spending needs. This is where you start to see whether the numbers actually work.

5. Tax Optimization

We look for opportunities to reduce your lifetime tax bill — Roth conversions, bracket management, Qualified Charitable Distributions, withdrawal sequencing. The window before Required Minimum Distributions begin is often the most important planning window most people never use.

6. Implementation

We put the strategy in motion — coordinating investment positioning, annuity strategies, and tax planning moves on a timeline that fits your situation.

7. Ongoing Review

Your situation changes. Tax laws change. Markets change. We review your portfolio regularly and adjust as needed — you’re not on your own once we’ve built a strategy together.

MEET THE TEAM

Retirement planning isn’t a one-person job. When you work with SIA’s wealth management team, you get a dedicated group of people who know your situation — not a call center or a different advisor every time you call.

Depending on your situation, you may work mostly with Jon or mostly with Carson — but you’re working with all of us either way. The people handling your accounts are the same people sitting across from you at your review, along with Cheryl, who assists in servicing your account.
