Wealth Management Services

Wealth Management Services in Waupun, WI
Retirement income planning, investment strategy, and tax optimization — all under one roof in Waupun, WI.

Most financial services firms do one thing. SIA does three — wealth management, insurance, and business benefits — and we’ve been doing it in Waupun since 1925. For our wealth management clients, that means your retirement planning and your protection coverage are coordinated. When something changes in one area, we can see how it affects the other.

Our team specializes in helping people approaching retirement and people who are already in it get organized, understand where they actually stand, and put a strategy in place that holds up.

WHAT WE DO

Retirement Income Planning

Turning savings into reliable income is a different problem than building a portfolio — and most people haven’t had to solve it before. We help you map out every income source in retirement, figure out how to sequence them, and stress-test the plan against real-world variables like inflation, healthcare costs, and the sequence in which your returns come.

Investment Analysis & Risk Assessment

We start with what you have. Using Nitrogen’s objective risk scoring tools, we analyze your current portfolio — what it’s actually costing you, how it’s allocated, and how much risk you’re carrying relative to what you’re comfortable with. A lot of people are surprised by the gap between those two numbers, especially heading into retirement.

Fixed & Fixed-Indexed Annuity Strategies

Annuities aren’t right for everyone. But for the right client in the right situation, they can solve problems that other financial products can’t — guaranteed income you can’t outlive, principal protection during market downturns, or a bridge between retirement and Social Security. We work with multiple A-rated carriers and can compare options side by side rather than presenting one product from one company.

Roth Conversion & Tax-Efficient Withdrawal Planning

The years before Required Minimum Distributions begin — age 73 or 75, depending on your birth year — are often the best window for Roth conversions and tax bracket management. We look at your full picture — current income, projected retirement income, Social Security timing, and potential estate considerations — and build a withdrawal strategy designed to reduce your lifetime tax burden, not just this year’s bill.

Social Security Timing Optimization

When you claim Social Security is one of the most consequential financial decisions most people make. Claiming at 62 vs. 70 can mean a difference of hundreds of thousands of dollars over a lifetime. We model the scenarios based on your health, your spouse’s benefit, and your other income sources, so you can make that decision with clear numbers in front of you.

Group Retirement Plans

We help business owners set up and manage retirement plans for their teams — 401(k) plans, SIMPLE IRAs, prevailing wage, and Davis-Bacon benefit plans. Done right, a group retirement plan is a recruiting and retention tool as much as it is a tax strategy.  We handle the setup and ongoing service so you can focus on running your business.

For contractors working on public projects, prevailing wage and Davis-Bacon plans are worth a closer look. They let required fringe benefit dollars go into a retirement plan instead of being paid out as cash wages — which lowers payroll burden for the company and builds real retirement savings for the crew. It’s a specialized area, and not every firm handles it.

Medicare & Retirement Healthcare Cost Planning

Healthcare is often the biggest wild card in a retirement budget, and Medicare decisions at 65 are more complicated than most people expect. We help clients think through their options, understand what different plans cover, and plan for out-of-pocket costs that can add up significantly over the course of a retirement.

We don’t hand this one off to a stranger. SIA has Medicare, individual health, ACA marketplace, and group health specialists in this office.  Our wealth management team works alongside them directly. So when a coverage question turns into an income question — or a Roth conversion threatens an ACA subsidy — the people answering both halves already know your situation and talk to each other.

OUR CREDENTIALS
Credentials matter in this work, and ours are specific to retirement planning rather than general. Jon Venhuizen holds three advanced planning designations — each requiring significant coursework, examinations, and ongoing continuing education — and Carson Bresser is actively working toward his own designations. These aren’t letters after a name. They represent a specific body of knowledge that’s directly relevant to the work we do with clients approaching retirement.

  •   ChFC® — Chartered Financial Consultant. One of the most coursework-intensive designations in financial planning. Covers retirement, tax, investment, insurance, and estate planning in depth.
  •   CLU® — Chartered Life Underwriter. The oldest and most recognized designation in life insurance and estate planning. Focuses on advanced strategies for income protection, disability, and transferring wealth.
  •   CRPS® — Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist. Specifically focused on retirement plan design and income distribution.

THE TOOLS BEHIND THE PLAN

Good planning depends on good information. We use the same platforms the largest firms use — so the analysis behind your plan is rigorous, and so you can see your full financial picture whenever you want to.

Your Financial Picture, All in One Place

We build financial plans with eMoney — and give you your own login to it. You can see all of your accounts in one place, including ones we don’t manage, track your net worth as it changes, and store important documents like wills, powers of attorney, and insurance policies in a secure vault. It’s your plan, and you have access to it any time, not just when we meet.

Knowing Your Actual Risk Number

We use Nitrogen to put an objective number on the risk in your portfolio, and a second number on how much risk you’re genuinely comfortable with. When those two don’t match — and for a lot of pre-retirees, they don’t — that’s a conversation worth having before the market forces the conversation.

Access to Multiple Carriers, Not One Shelf

We maintain relationships with multiple A-rated annuity carriers rather than representing a single company. That means when an annuity makes sense for your situation, we compare options across the carriers we work with instead of fitting you into a single product from a single company.

Securities Through Packerland Brokerage Services

Our securities and advisory services are offered through Packerland Brokerage Services, Inc., Member FINRA & SIPC. Packerland is an independent broker-dealer, which means we’re not owned by a product manufacturer and aren’t required to recommend proprietary products.

ONE FIRM. THREE DISCIPLINES. SINCE 1925.

SIA Insurance Services has been locally owned and operated in Waupun since 1925 — more than a century of serving families and businesses across Fond du Lac, Dodge, and Columbia Counties. We’re not a national firm with a local office; we’re a local firm with national resources.

What makes us different is the combination under one roof: wealth management, personal and business insurance, and employee benefits. For clients who need all three, that coordination matters. When a major life event happens — a retirement, a business transition, a death in the family — we can look at the full picture and respond accordingly.

When you call us, you’re talking to someone who knows your name. That’s been true since 1925, and it’s still true today.
