Financial Calculators
The same tools we use with clients — free to use, no signup required.
These aren’t generic online calculators. We built all twelve for the conversations we actually have with clients approaching and entering retirement — modeling a Roth conversion, figuring out when to claim Social Security, seeing how long savings will last, and understanding what a decision costs before you make it.
Nothing you enter is saved, transmitted, or collected. Everything runs in your browser.
TAX PLANNING TOOLS
Roth Conversion Advisor — Married Filing Jointly
Should you convert — and how much? · Married couples
Set your current income and a proposed conversion amount, and the tool returns a clear verdict with the specific warnings most calculators miss — IRMAA Medicare surcharges, Social Security taxation risk, ACA subsidy effects, and the widow/widower tax trap.
Roth Conversion Advisor — Single Filers
The same analysis, built for one · Single filers
Single filers hit tax brackets and IRMAA thresholds at roughly half the income a married couple does, so a conversion that’s comfortable for a couple can be expensive for one person. This version runs the numbers against the right thresholds.
Federal Tax Bracket Visualizer
See exactly where your income lands · Every filing status, under or over 65
Drag the income slider and watch the brackets light up. Shows which brackets your income actually reaches, how much falls into each, and your real effective rate — almost always lower than people expect. Handles single, married filing jointly, married filing separately, head of household, and qualifying surviving spouse.
Prefer it on paper? We keep printable 2026 bracket sheets for the four most common situations:

Capital Gains Tax Calculator
What will realizing this gain actually cost? · Single or married filing jointly
Models the full tax picture of realizing long-term capital gains, including the second-order effects that surprise people — how gains push Social Security into taxable territory and trigger the Net Investment Income Tax.
Required Minimum Distribution Calculator
What do I have to take out, and when? · Any account owner subject to RMDs
Calculates your current-year RMD across multiple accounts using the correct IRS life expectancy table — Uniform Lifetime, Joint Life, or the inherited-account rules — and projects the next ten years so you can see what’s coming.
RETIREMENT INCOME TOOLS
Retirement Income Projector
Where will I actually be at retirement? · Any household
Projects your portfolio forward to your target retirement age, then converts that balance into realistic monthly income adjusted for inflation and layered with Social Security.
How Long Will My Savings Last?
Will the money outlive me, or the other way around? · Any household
Enter your balances and what you plan to withdraw each month, and the tool shows how long the money lasts — accounting separately for pre-tax and Roth assets and adjusting spending for inflation.
Social Security Claiming Optimizer
When should we claim — and what does waiting actually buy? · Single or married, spouse optional
Compares claiming ages, finds the break-even point, and shows lifetime benefit totals rather than just monthly figures. Add a spouse to model both claiming decisions together, or run it for one person on its own. Accounts for the earnings test if you plan to keep working.
Mortgage Payoff Before Retirement
Should we pay off the house first? · Single or married filing jointly
One of the most common questions we get, and the answer depends heavily on where the money comes from. Compares an accelerated payoff against staying invested, and shows the real cost of funding a payoff from an IRA — where the withdrawal itself is taxable income and can push you into a higher bracket.
HEALTHCARE COST TOOLS
Medicare IRMAA Surcharge Calculator
Will my income trigger a Medicare surcharge? · Single, married jointly, or married separately
IRMAA works on cliffs — a dollar over a threshold costs you for a full year, based on your tax return from two years earlier. This tool shows exactly where those thresholds sit for your situation and how much headroom you have before a Roth conversion or a large capital gain pushes you over.
ACA Healthcare Bridge Calculator
What does coverage cost between retiring and Medicare? · Single or married jointly
For anyone retiring before 65, health coverage is often the single biggest line item and the biggest surprise. Estimates marketplace premiums and premium tax credits, shows where the subsidy cliff sits, and models the tension most early retirees run into — that a Roth conversion which saves tax later can cost you subsidy dollars now.
PROTECTION TOOLS
How Much Life Insurance Do I Need?
A real needs analysis, not a rule of thumb · Any household
Works through actual obligations rather than multiplying income by ten. Adds up income replacement, debts, final expenses, and education costs, then subtracts what you already have in place.
A NOTE ON SCOPE
Each tool notes its own scope, and most now handle any filing status. A few are built around a specific situation — the two Roth Conversion Advisors are split by filing status because the thresholds differ so much, and the ACA calculator assumes marketplace coverage. If your situation doesn’t match, the concepts still hold but the specific numbers won’t. Give us a call and we’ll run your actual scenario.
Ran the numbers and want to talk through what they mean?
These tools show you the math. What they can’t do is account for everything else going on in your situation — your timeline, your other accounts, your health, your goals for what you leave behind. That’s the conversation we’re built for.
